Obviously, being an antique wooden carving out of what I believe to be pine, it has a brilliant patina given the age, storage and use. The leather is worn but still holds and the dry wood has naturally occurring cracks. To further preserve this piece, wood glue would be an easy fix for one of the major natural cracks but I haven't and will not perform this as I'm leaving it original. It still hangs and displays perfectly. This historical piece has rich characteristics and features depicting iconic periods of western expansion.
