A 19th Century Victorian gilt wood picture frame c1890. The impressive frame is in wonderful large, elegant and imposing size.

Carruthers & Sons as the carver and gilder is documented on the back, carving and gilding frames in Manchester in the late 1800s to the early 1900s, Glasgow Scotland. In completely unrestored condition, straight out of a grand country house. This would make a lovely mirror. Presents nicely'as is' but deserves to be restored as this is by a highly rated maker.

I HAVE OTHER FRAMES LISTED FOR SALE. CONDITION overall for its age is good, there are of course the usual age related scratches and marks to frame. Dirty, this will clean up beautifully.

I have no idea if this has been over gilded at some point in time. There will be losses throughout to carvings. Frame 101 high x 120.5 wide x 11 deep. Inset 72 high x 92.5 wide. The older pieces of furniture are better made, normally by craftsmen and not machines, have more character & if looked after will last many years.

I also love much older pieces, if they are unusual, well made & a great design I will offer them for sale. I like to keep pieces as original as possible & will clean & re oil / wax. I convert some to'Hairpin leg' pieces if they have no legs / ugly legs or missing legs. I do NOT allow customers to arrange their own couier as I cannot accept responsibility for the item in transit.
