Hello this is a Vintage Letterpress wooden type case tray most popularly known as "Printers Tray" stripped of years of dust and dirt, finished off with a coat of British Rapeseed oil to enhance and preserve the honey coloured wood. Judging by its colour, it could be made of Antique Pine. The map-like patterns beautifully scattered all around the lining are the wooden discolourations and stains it had accumulated through the years from the printers ink. A dark patina covers the original metal handle and the most sought after brass joiners which were cleaned piece by piece to accentuate the corners of the wooden compartments. Prior to restoration and for added assurance, this tray has been treated for woodworm. Please check all the photos provided for more details.
