Pretty Antique / Vintage French Marble Topped Bedside Cabinet / Pot Cupboard. We brought this back with us from our French holiday home last year. We bought it from a local antique market near to Saint Jean d'Angely in the South West region of France. Looking at the style of the piece, we believe that it probably dates from the 30's given some of the Art Deco influences.
As can be seen from the photos, it has a nice pale yellow marble that compliments the darker wood rather well. It has a single drawer, and beneath this there is an open cupboard. At the bottom of the unit is a doored cupboard. Both handles on the drawer and cupboard match, but we're pretty certain that these are not original judging by the screws used. Also, we think it is likely that the original pulls would have been more deco in style too.

The wood of the cabinet does have marks commensurate with its age, however it is in good condition for a vintage piece of furniture. We have tried to capture this in the photographs and have taken indoor and outdoor shots to show it in different lights. On the back of the drawer is a signature. We have no idea if this was the maker or a previous owner. As is typically the case of antique/vintage furniture, there are signs of historic woodworm. We treated the piece immediately when we bought it, as we do with all French furniture as a precaution. There have been no signs of any fresh activity during our ownership.
We have recently applied a new coat of boiled linseed oil to enhance its sheen. Weight - 13.7 kg. Marble dimensions: 38 cm x 32 cm. Due to the size and potential fragility of the cupboard, we would prefer for it to be collected from the Guildford area (GU2).
