Here for sale at Liverpool Antiques we have a large selection of Victorian and Georgian chests/ blanket boxes. These antique trunks can be used for excellent storage and at the same time can be useful and used as a coffee/side table in front of a sofa or to the side of chairs whilst giving your room added character. This box chest is truly stunning, it is guaranteed. My research has confirmed it to have been made c1874 out of pine using a traditional through cut dovetail construction method.

The timber that has been used for this box is Quebec yellow pine with beautiful figure, it also has its original moulded plinth and original square edge moulding to the top. This chest still has its original painted finish which is a rich dark brown scumbled oak grain finish, highlighted to the front with the original hand painted sign writing of the owners, the "Hand & Heart Friendly Society 1874". This would have been used to keep the proceeds or documents in. Originally it had three locks for each of the trusties to hold, only one lock remains.

The original paint has been polished to a wonderful shine, along with the original solid cast iron hinges and wrought iron side handles that have all been hand made. This chest is in fabulous condition, the interior has a separate lidded candle box with three compartments. It is like all the boxes we sell, clean and tidy with some age related marks.

The front of the chest is wonderfully aged with the original owners name. " Hand & Heart Friendly Society ". This really is a rare find and adds to this box's character.

This Old chest still has the original lock inside, sadly no key. A fabulous chest that I'm sure could tell a story or two, the years of use have really added to this box's character, which have developed into a fabulous rich all over weathered look. The rest of the box has been fully restored and has been polished using traditional bees wax.

This is a truly stunning and wonderful quality piece of furniture, a clean and solid trunk full of character, "History" and charm in fantastic condition. You will find it hard to find a better box for sale than this one for a long time!! Please ask for additional photos, we have plenty more but can only list 12 on this page.
